One response to the new economic reality is to focus on the organisation’s core competences and have other specialist organisations deliver your non-core activities to a high standard, underpinned by a rigorous Service Level Agreement (SLA). For many organisations the deployment of more responsive IT systems is an essential component of a new and more flexible business model.

When implementing new software systems, quality assurance and testing is critical and can account for a significant portion of your total software deployment budget. Frequently, it is an activity that you can wholly, or in part, outsource to a specialist vendor.
Outsourcing does not mean transferring the entire testing activity offshore to locations such as India. It can mean a managed service on site or a mix of both while dealing with a single local vendor. |
Some of the more successful outsourcing/managed service arrangements are based on a single activity, such as performance or security testing, while retaining the overall Test management role.
On 9 June 2009, Sogeti Ireland held a three hour event in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin. The event demonstrated how, through a Managed Test Service (MTS), Sogeti take responsibility for the delivery of software quality at a specified level for a defined/fixed cost.
The presentations outlined how the first year of the Sogeti MTS costs no more than your current real cost, in the second year we commit to reducing that by 10%, followed by a further 15% in the third year. Our test professionals and guest speakers explained how MTS can fit into your overall business and IT strategy and gave a detailed check list to let you evaluate if MTS is right for you. We concluded with two case studies of successful MTS projects; an enterprise example and a single activity project (test automation) example. The event also provided an opportunity for discussion and for networking with speakers and fellow attendees.
