Date: 3 March 2010
Time:  11.00am to 12.00 noon GMT
Presentation: Available at bottom of this page

Abstract
Business transformation is both a requirement and enabler to emerge successfully from the global economic crisis.  This webinar looked at degree to which business transformation is now underway across Europe.

It differentiated between the transformation that is required to respond to the immediate economic crisis, e.g., organisational restructuring and cost cutting, and the more long-term strategic transformation that is required, e.g. sustainable development and global economic power shifts and rebalancing.

It also looked at the role of ICT in enabling and supporting business transformation and review the role of :

  • New collaborative models both within organisations and across global supply chains and related cloud computing models
  • The explosion in global and, in particular, mobile communication
  • The rise of social media and Web 2.0
  • New software development models enabling rapid system change and delivery of new functionality
  • The emergence of outsourcing, locally and far-shore, as a standard approach to business optimisation

The webinar used the findings of the Capgemini Consulting/Economist Economic Intelligence Unit “Annual survey of trends in business transformation” as a backdrop.
