The Unprecedented Change in IT; Sogeti & HPE launch world quality report

With business innovation becoming increasingly digital and an immense pressure on organisations to achieve the holy grail of increased speed-to-market coupled with quality assurance, 2016 is demonstrating that the digital revolution has only just begun.

Dublin, Ireland, 11/02/2016

The local launch of the World Quality Report last night - jointly hosted by Sogeti and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, brought together the leaders in application quality and testing practices for an exciting and interactive discussion about the changes that have occurred in IT over the past 20 years and the challenges that 2016 will bring. The rise of SMACT - social, mobile, analytics, cloud and Internet of Things are creating new challenges and accelerating the speed of digital transformation.   

The evening was hosted by James Govan, CEO of Sogeti Ireland, and Paul Turley, Regional Manager, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software, which took place in The Shelbourne Dublin. Paul Turley, commented; ‘The findings of this year’s World Quality Report tally with what we are hearing from our clients on the ground here in Ireland. The balance of speed, cost and quality can be best achieved by increasing levels of automation, eliminating the bottlenecks that cause delays and having joined up data and reporting to make the best decisions irrespective of the development methodology’.

Guest speaker Mark Buenen, VP and global solutions lead at Capgemini, remarked;

“This was an excellent interactive session, with good disucssion on future of QA. The IT of today and tommorow is governed by two key themes: Speed and Customer Value. This automatically positions the right level of Quality Assurance in a central role. However in day-to-day operations quality can be sacrificed over speed. Various good suggestions to overcome this were discussed: Increase the level of automation in quality validation, optimize the coverage and efficiency of test sets, and create a transparent visibility on Quality KPI’s which are a shared responsibility of everybody in the organisation.”

The night was brought to a close with a question and answer session featuring guests; Jeremy Kearney, senior QA test manager at Camelot Global and Marie O’Connor, director of QA & test at Sogeti Ireland. The focus of this discussion reiterated the importance of customer experience and business assurance with Jeremy reflecting on how quality assurance directly affects brand reputation. Security was highlighted as a top priority in IT strategy among the entire panel which reaffirms the findings in the report.

Mark Buenen, VP and Global Solutions Lead at Capgemini and Toby Marsden, EMEA Director ADM Solutions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise were guest speakers on the night.
