Friday Five - 5 Top Interview Tips

This week we sat down with Aisling Healy, Human Resources Recruitment Executive for Sogeti Ireland, to discuss the five top interview tips she has for consultants.

As consultants who are regularly attending interviews on client site, it is important to remember you only have a short amount of time to make the best impression.

5 tips to keep in mind when you are going for an interview with a client;

1. Dress formal

group of business professionals

If you are unaware of the dress code it is always better to dress formally as it makes a good first impression.

2. Be prepared

Office directions

Know where the offices are, walk to it the day before if necessary or leave earlier to ensure you are at least 10 minutes early for the interview. If late for an interview it makes a bad first impression

3. Know your CV

Know-CV

Make sure you know your CV inside out and be prepared to pull examples from your past experiences. Do not put experiences on your CV that you would not be able to answer questions on from your interviewer

4. Research the company

company research

It makes a bad impression when you cannot speak about the background and business of the client you are interviewing for. Ensure you know when and where it was founded, the industries in which it operates, the values and mission of the company and if possible the clients it works with.

5. Ask questions

Ask questions

Ensure that you have a question at the end of the interview regarding the project that you will potentially be joining which shows that you are interested and engaged.

Along with these tips remember to relax. The interviewer is looking for a good culture fit so make sure to be yourself and show that you would fit in well with their environment which our consultants always do!
