Maxime Charousset’s journey is about curiosity and a passion for data and innovation. Originally from Lyon, France, he moved to Dublin in early 2023 to join Sogeti Ireland. He holds a Master’s degree from ESIGELEC engineering school, where he specialized in Big Data, statistics, and machine learning. Outside of his work in data, he enjoys exploring astronomy, playing video games with friends, and staying active by playing plenty of Tag Rugby each week.

Can you give us an overview of your career to date?

I have over six years of experience in the tech and engineering field, including three years completed through an apprenticeship programme. I began my career in the plastic film industry before transitioning into consulting, where I supported governmental administrations with data development and analysis. I then moved to Dublin under the VIE programme (a French international internship scheme that enables young professionals to gain experience abroad), where I further developed my expertise in business intelligence and data analytics.

Over the past few years, I have primarily worked within the financial services and insurance sectors, helping major clients unlock value from their data.

What are you most passionate about in your area of expertise?

One of my biggest passions is automation and designing “time-saving” data solutions. There’s something incredibly satisfying about transforming a manual, repetitive process into a clean and efficient automated workflow. I enjoy sharing this mindset with my teams by promoting agile-inspired data practices and ensuring full transparency in how our data architectures are built and maintained.

How do you add value to your customers’ businesses through your role?

At the core of my role is helping clients win back their most valuable resource: time. By turning hours of manual reporting into automated dashboards, I enable teams to move beyond simply gathering data and instead focus on making impactful, data-driven decisions that drive their business forward.

What has been the biggest thing you’ve learned since starting work with Sogeti?

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned at Sogeti is the power of adaptability. Working with different clients has pushed me to quickly understand new environments, align with diverse stakeholder expectations, and adapt to varying technical ecosystems — all of which are essential in delivering successful outcomes.

Tell us a bit more about yourself

Outside of work, I have a real passion for astronomy — I love stargazing whenever the weather allows it!

I also play Tag Rugby, which I picked up two years ago and has since become a big part of my life. And like many, I enjoy diving into video games as it’s always loads of emotions whether it is with my friends, by shouting and laughing with them, or alone fully immersed, with all your senses experiencing wonderful art.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
At the moment, I’d probably choose a warm, natural island on the other side of the world. I’d love to meet people living away from AI, advanced technology, and the fast-paced life of big cities — discovering a different culture, a different way of life, and a different history.

What’s a lesser-known skill or talent you have?
I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 30 seconds — or at least I could before I lost mine about six months ago!

Describe Sogeti in three words

Agile, Collaborative, Impactful.

Reflecting on my three years with Sogeti, I’m excited for what’s next. Whether it’s helping clients build cleaner data pipelines to make better decisions or pushing for more sustainable tech practices, I look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the team.
