As I reflect on my 14 year journey with Capgemini and my 6 years with Sogeti Ireland, I am constantly reminded of how the right organization can transform not just your career, but your entire professional outlook. Here is an insight into my experiences, growth and the invaluable lessons I have learned along the way.

Tell us about yourself

I am Saurabh Agarwal, an IT Delivery Manager and Sustainability Lead at Sogeti Ireland. I am from Meerut city, India, which is in the state of Uttar Pradesh. I attended the College of Engineering Roorkee, where I completed Bachelor of Technology degree specialized in Information Technology and graduated in 2004.

How long have you been working with Sogeti?

I have been with Capgemini for 14 years now and with Sogeti for 6 years. When I first shared my aspiration for an international assignment with the leadership at Capgemini, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Within 6-12 months an opportunity arose with one of Ireland’s largest banks. After a successful interview, I relocated to Ireland in 2018. What began as a one to two year assignment has flourished into six rewarding years with Sogeti Ireland.

This is perhaps one of the greatest benefits of being part of the Capgemini group, they genuinely support people who want to explore new roles and opportunities worldwide within the group. As I often tell my colleagues, “keep yourself aspiring to do something big, something new and share with your leaders, they do help.”

Just a short intro of your experience and what keeps you motivated?

In my 20+ years in the IT industry, primarily in Banking, Finance, and Insurance (BFSI), I have led numerous IT transformation and regulatory projects. However, my time with Sogeti has accelerated my professional development in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

What keeps me passionate and motivated is the opportunity to take on new challenges regularly. In just six years in Ireland, I have performed four to five different roles across various clients, including one of the largest banks in Ireland, a telecom client and government projects. This constant evolution keeps the work exciting and has significantly broadened my expertise.

How do you add value to your customers’ businesses through your role?

In life, I have found that success comes from looking beyond what you are simply supposed to do and I always focus on adding value to the organization and to the client business, even in my personal life as well. For instance, when I joined a client in Ireland, I noticed their project managers were burdened with manual reporting across many projects. Drawing on my experience I implemented Confluence and Jira to digitalize their reporting system within a month. This initiative freed up valuable time and created a seamless reporting system across the organization.

When you finish your day feeling you have made a valuable contribution to your project, organization and customers – that’s a good day! At Sogeti, I am fortunate to have many such days and I look forward to many more.

What is the most memorable moment you have had at Sogeti?

There are many actually! One of them was our Diwali celebration, where we decorated the office with diyas and colorful decorations, enjoyed Indian food and shared cultural performances. I very much appreciate that our leadership embraces diversity in the workplace, which speaks volumes about the company’s values. They are genuinely mindful about people, their sentiments, emotions and understand the value of different cultures. This inclusive environment makes Sogeti not just a place to work, but a place to belong.

Another was leading Ireland’s team in the ecological games, where we secured second position among ten countries on our very first attempt. Despite being a smaller team compared to other countries our commitment to sustainability initiatives allowed us to excel. This experience validated Sogeti’s dedication to environmental responsibility, which aligns perfectly with my role as a Sustainability lead.

Who has been your biggest support during your time at Sogeti?

I have been fortunate to have exceptional mentors at Sogeti. My people manager Ashutosh Kothiyal, has been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. Similarly, my director Declan Coates, despite managing over 100 people and numerous responsibilities always finds time to listen to my ideas and aspirations.

Having leaders who are always helpful, always available and always guide you on how you can do better makes all the difference in navigating complex assignments and workplace challenges.

What has been the biggest thing you have learned since starting work with Sogeti?

Perhaps the most unexpected development in my time with Sogeti has been learning to lead diverse teams. Working with people from multiple ethnic backgrounds was initially challenging, but it helped me grow into a more effective leader. This skill has proven invaluable as I have progressed in my career. I have also learned to always align personal aspirations with organizational vision and maintain clear communication with leadership because it helps a lot. Now, I have established myself as an IT delivery manager fully equipped to lead digital transformation and regulatory projects.

What is your life outside of work?

I am a family man, I have two kids. I love to spend time with my kids and wife. After work we go for walks, visit the beach or maybe go for a drive. This is how I unwind after a long day. I like to be surrounded by people and am a very social person. I also enjoy listening to music, going for runs and always trying to find new tracks because I feel the same track never helps. I am also a lawn tennis player which many of my colleagues don’t know. I always look out for new experiences in life.

Looking forward

As I look to the future, I am excited about the continued growth opportunities with Sogeti and the Capgemini group. My aspiration to visit our headquarters in France stems from a desire to better understand how our organization functions at scale and the perspective of those managing such a large enterprise.

In an industry where change is the only constant, Sogeti stands out as growth-oriented, ethical and resilient. The company’s commitment to supporting individual aspirations while maintaining a clear organizational vision creates an environment where professionals can truly thrive.
