Sogeti Ireland recently hosted its AI in Action event in partnership with Microsoft, on Wednesday, 27 May. The session featured Joakim Walqvist, Sogeti’s Global Head of Data and AI, as guest speaker.
The event brought together business leaders, technology professionals, and AI specialists to explore how organisations are moving beyond experimentation and delivering tangible value through artificial intelligence.

From AI Experimentation to Real-World Impact

Featuring Joakim Wahlqvist, the session provided practical, real-world insights into how organisations are implementing and scaling AI across industries.

A key focus of the event was one of the most pressing challenges organisations face today: how to move AI from proof of concept into full-scale production.

Joakim shared perspectives on how leading organisations are successfully scaling AI by aligning technology initiatives with clear business outcomes. The discussion emphasised the importance of adopting a structured, value-driven approach that ensures AI delivers measurable and sustainable impact.

Key themes and Insights

Throughout the session, several key themes emerged:

  • Scaling AI into production: Moving beyond pilots requires robust frameworks, governance, and alignment with business priorities.
  • The rise of agentic AI: Multi-agent systems are beginning to transform how processes are automated and optimised across organisations.
  • Data as a foundation: High-quality, well-integrated data remains critical to unlocking the full value of AI.
  • Cloud enablement with Microsoft Azure: Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure play a key role in enabling scalable, secure and high-performing AI solutions.
  • AI Adoption and change management: Successful AI implementation depends on cross-functional collaboration, cultural alignment, and continious value realisation.

A practical AI case study: From Pilot to Production

Attendees also had the opportunity to explore a real-world AI case study demonstrating how a structured and iterative approach can successfully take AI initiatives from early experimentation through to full deployment.

This example illustrated the importance of prioritising business value, integrating data effectively and delivering solutions incrementally to ensure long-term success.

Engaging Discussions and Industry Perspectives

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A led by Paul Gilbride, Director of Data & AI at Sogeti Ireland. This provided an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with the speakers, share perspectives, and explore practical challenges and opportunities within their own organisations.

The discussion sparked insightful conversations and reinforced the growing importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the AI space.
